Freya’s 2nd

Schiit Introduces Freya 2 with Fusion Architecture, Tube and Solid State Flexibility

September 30, 2026, San Antonio, Texas. Today, Schiit Audio announced the immediate availability of Freya 2, the second generation of its popular Freya preamplifier. This all-new product features Schiit’s exclusive Fusion Architecture for unparalleled tube and solid-state flexibility, enabling all-tube, hybrid, and all solid-state configurations, as well as passive. Freya 2 is available now from $999, including tubes.

“Freya 2 is a completely different product than the previous Freyas,” said Jason Stoddard, Schiit’s co-founder and head of analog development. “It incorporates Fusion Architecture, which means you can use it as an all-tube preamp, or you can use tubes only for voltage gain or current gain, or you can go all solid-state—all in the same topology.”

The advantage of Fusion Architecture is two-fold. One, it allows customers to choose a mode that works best for their system. They’re not locked into a tube, tube hybrid, or solid state preamp—they can try each and decide which they like best, or use them conditionally—such as choosing solid state for background music, to preserve tube life.

“One of the keys to Fusion Architecture is that it only uses the tubes you are using,” said Jason. “As in, if you’re only using tubes in voltage gain, they’re the only ones that are powered up. If you’re using no tubes, the tubes aren’t powered at all—no heater, no high voltage rail, completely off.”

Freya 2 comes with a set of 4 new production tubes, but many customers choose valuable “new old stock” tubes for their listening, so the provision to preserve tube life is important.

Beyond Fusion Architecture, Freya 2 is also one of the highest quality preamplifiers available. With volume control via a relay-switched resistor ladder, there are no potentiometers or ICs in the signal path. Customers can choose passive mode to use the relay ladder directly and bypass gain completely. High-quality Wima capacitors, MELF resistors, NEC relays, and Neutrik connectors preserve signal integrity, and the 100% linear power supply is internal and features two independent transformers to serve the needs of Freya 2’s tubes, solid state, and oversight functions.

As a differential, balanced design, Freya 2 offers both balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs; it does not “cheat” and convert balanced to single-ended internally, maintaining balanced inputs in their most pure form.

Freya 2 offers many convenience features, including physical front panel controls for common functions, as well as an IR remote. Freya 2 also includes a Forkbeard module, for app-based advanced control, including balance. Balance is implemented in Freya 2 as a pure analog function, via independent control of the relay ladders for each channel. Forkbeard also integrates with almost 20 other Schiit products to provide additional unique functions and insight, such as Visual Volume and Continuous Class A Monitoring.

Freya 2 is available now at $999 in black finish and $1049 in silver at schiit.com.
