Yggy Upgrades
Yggdrasil and Yggdrasil+ Analog and USB Upgrades
Description
Looking for upgrades for your Yggdrasil or Yggdrasil+? Here’s what we have:
Full Upgrades
Byggy (from Yggdrasil)
Byggy is Yggdrasil+ Advanced with Singular Analog. If you’re coming from Yggdrasil (original chassis with aluminum wrapping around the bottom), this is a near-complete re-do. The only thing retained is the motherboard. That’s why this is an expensive upgrade! Maybe sell yours and buy a Byggy?
Byggy (from Yggy+)
This is still a big upgrade, involving 4 PC boards and a rear chassis insert. But it gets you the latest Byggy from your Yggdrasil+.
Availability and pricing: As of 10/25, we are still shipping pre-orders. New orders are expected to ship by December 1. If you own an Yggy that you purchased from us or a distributor, note that on your order with an order number and we'll discount the upgrade price by $500 if purchased by December 31, 2025.
Analog Upgrades
Yggdrasil Less Is More Analog
Uses four TI 16-bit DACs and integrated differential amplification afterwards. Because it’s 16 bits, and because the DACs cost less than the other options, it is less expensive than any other version. It also measures a bit better than the Yggdrasil OG (!) despite being down 4 bits. This is the wonder and magic of dither.
Yggdrasil More is Better Analog
Uses four TI 20-bit high-precision DACs with integrated differential amplification for the highest-performance multibit DAC ever. Easily eclipses the performance of "golden age" multibit ICs like PCM63 and PCM1702/1704. Is this is the best multibit DAC in history? Perhaps. You decide!
Yggdrasil Singular™ Analog
Uses our own Singular delta-sigma modulator, implemented with 7-bit, 6MHz array on a Xilinx FPGA. Together with our own DSP-based digital filter, our own USB input, and our own Nexus™ discrete analog stage, you’ll have the world’s only single-manufacturer DAC, with zero external purchased functionality.
Availability: LIM ships 1-3 days, MIB and Singular expected December 1.
Platform Upgrade
Yggy+ Advanced, Including Forkbeard, Dual Unison 384™ and 2nd Gen DSP
Don’t want none of this Singular nonsense, but want the new dual Unison 384 inputs? Sure, we can do that. Add Forkbeard, dual USB-C inputs, and more, to your current Yggdrasil+. Note: this is not available for the original Yggdrasil chassis (the tall one with aluminum wrapping around to the bottom).
Availability: As of 10/25, we are still shipping pre-orders. New orders are expected to ship by December 1.
Chassis Upgrade
Yggy+ Chassis (from Yggdrasil)
Just want to change from your older Yggdrasil (with aluminum that wraps over the top and bottom) to the newer, slimmer chassis with swappable backplates and IR remote control, while keeping all your original boards? Here you go. Now you’re ready for the future.
Availability: queue 1-2 weeks.
Other Upgrades
Unison USB™
Update your older Gen 3 or Gen 5 Yggdrasil to single Unison 192 input with USB-B connector.
Availability: ships 1-3 days.
Schiit Scheduling System Reduces Upgrade Time
Our convenient scheduling system that allows you to keep your Yggy until we’re ready to do your upgrade immediately. Just place your order, and follow the steps in the series of emails. You’ll be notified when your order is accepted, when to send in your DAC, when the work is performed, and when it’s shipped back to you, for complete transparency.
Other Installation Options
You can also select to have your upgrades shipped to you. Please note that by selecting this option, you are saying, "Yes, I am, or know, a competent electronics technician who does not need hand-holding for this installation, and I will not allow an inexperienced person to perform the upgrade, since I understand there are no user-serviceable parts inside."
2-Year Warranty Reactivation
Yggdrasil upgrades are covered by a 2-year warranty or the balance of the original factory warranty, whichever is greater. For factory-installed upgrades on out-of-warranty products, this re-activates the warranty on the complete product for 2 years. One caveat: Schiit may refuse to do upgrades on heavily modified products. For self-installed upgrades, you can return the card in its original packaging, in undamaged and operational condition, in 15 days for a refund, minus 15% reinspection and restocking fee. Schiit installed upgrades cannot be returned.
